Last season was a throwaway campaign for CJ Fredrick.
After transferring from Iowa, he didn't suit up a single time for Kentucky. A torn left hamstring â he underwent surgery in November, just before the 2021-22 season tipped off â was the cause.
Finally healthy at the beginning of this season, Fredrick immediately made up for lost time.
He scored 20 points (on 6-of-9 shooting) in the opener versus Howard. He followed up with 14 points against Duquesne in UK's next outing, then added a game-high 17 in a lopsided win over South Carolina State.
Through four games, Fredrick's scoring average was 14 on the dot. His field goal percentage was exactly 50% (18-for-36). And he had connected on precisely 40% (10-for-25) of his 3-point attempts.
