Lyon County basketball star Travis Perry, state’s leading scorer, commits to Kentucky

Travis Perry, the leading scorer in Kentucky high school boys basketball history, announced his commitment to Kentucky on Sunday.

, the leading scorer in high school boys basketball history, announced his commitment to Kentucky on Sunday.

Perry, a 6-foot-2 senior guard at Lyon County High School, had more than 20 scholarship offers from NCAA Division I schools. He recently narrowed his list to Alabama, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Mississippi and Western Kentucky.

A consensus four-star prospect, Perry is the third commit in coach 's 2024 class and the second in less than a month. Point guard gave his pledge last month, joining center Somto Cyril, who became the first commit of the class in June.

With Perry in the fold, Kentucky's class rose 15 spots in the 247Sports Composite rankings, moving from No. 21 to No. 6.

On This Day In UK Basketball History

On February 21, 1970, No. 2 Kentucky defeated LSU, 121-105.  Dan Issel scored 51 points, Mike Pratt 27 and Tom Parker 18 as UK outgunned LSU star “Pistol Pete” Maravich’s 64-point performance before 9,000 fans in the John Parker Memorial Coliseum.  This was the ultimate shootout between all-time SEC greats Maravich and Issel.
