Former Wildcats dominate NBA Player of the Week Awards

De’Aaron Fox and Julius Randle, a pair of former Kentucky Wildcats, just swept the NBA Player of the Week awards for Week 6.

Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox and forward have been named the Players of the Week for Week 6 of the 2023-24 season.

The reigning Clutch Player of the Year led Sacramento to a 3-1 record in Week 6 with averages of 31.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 8.7 assists. Fox’s week was highlighted by a 40-point outburst (14-for-23 shooting) in the Kings’ loss to the Clippers on Nov. 29. One day prior, Fox put up 29 points against the Golden State Warriors in an In-Season Tournament thriller where teammate Malik Monk scored the game-winning basket to help the Kings advance to the Knockout Rounds.

This marks the second Player of the Week honors for Fox this season and the fifth of his career.

Julius Randle, New York Knicks

The star forward led New York to 3-0 record in Week 6 with averages of 24.7 points, 13.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists. He put up 25 points and 20 rebounds in the Knicks’ In-Season Tournament victory against the Charlotte Hornets on Nov. 28. Randle and the Knicks clinched a wildcard spot in the Knockout Rounds of the In-Season Tournament where they will face the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday (7:30 ET, TNT). He also notched a season-high 29 points on 12-for-21 shooting (57.1%) in the Knicks’ victory against the Detroit Pistons.
