Walter Fox was born Walter Cuthbert Fox on March 29, 1887, in Newport, Kentucky, to George Michael Fox and Louisa Weber Fox.
Fox participated in basketball and track while at Kentucky. He was the captain of the basketball team in 1908-09 and coached the girls basketball team that same season. He was a member of the Brooks Civil Engineering Society and was an associate editor of “The Transit” a monthly magazine published by the students of the civil engineering department. He was also a member of Alpha Tau Omega, a social fraternity, Lamp and Cross, the Panhellenic Council, and the Mystic Thirteen.
Fox graduated from Kentucky in 1910 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and moved to Dayton, Ohio for work where he was chief engineer of the United States Structural company.
Fox died at the Miami Valley hospital in Dayton on December 18, 1918, after a brief illness of pneumonia. He was 31 years old.
