There’s an interesting parallel between the 1975 Kentucky team and the current edition

With a win over on Thursday, will go into a regional final as the favorite to make it to the Final Four. Thirty-five years ago this month, the Wildcats were about as far on the other end of the spectrum as a team could be. They were facing an undefeated juggernaut from , which had beaten the Cats by 24 points earlier that season. But in one of the most memorable games in the history of this program, Kentucky upset the Hooisers 92-90, on the way to an eventual national runner-up finish.

On February 11, 1987, Kentucky defeated Tennessee 91-84 in overtime.  Kentucky was down 10 points to Don DeVoe’s Volunteers with 1:13 left in Rupp Arena when the Wildcats unleashed a ferocious rally. Rex Chapman hit a running 12-footer over 6-foot-11 UT center Doug Roth with three seconds left to force overtime —where UK won before 23,002 fans.  One of the all-time miracle comebacks in Kentucky basketball history.
