A half-century ago, the Celtics were paced by a 6-foot-1-inch, 175-pound point guard who could solve any defense. He was Houdini on the hardwood, deftly finding the open man with bounce passes in traffic. He had long arms, enormous hands, and uncommon peripheral vision. He was a world champion and he gave the Celtics a weapon the Lakers didn’t have in the early days of Boston-Los Angeles championship finals.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On March 7, 2015, playing under a two-platoon system for most of the year, the Wildcats complete the regular season 31-0 with a victory over Florida, becoming the first team from a “power five” conference to go undefeated in the regular season since Indiana did it in 1976. UK completes the SEC season with an 18-0 record and goes on to win the SEC Tournament championship, its 28th title. The Wildcats eventually post a 38-0 record to reach the Final Four, the first team in college basketball history to record such a record, before losing to Wisconsin in the national semifinals.
