Pat Riley

Former Kentucky great Pat Riley steps down from Lakers after nine years and four titles.  From “The Season Never Ends 2010 Calendar:  “There are other things I want to do with my life,” said tearful Lakers coach Pat Riley, who announced he was stepping down from the head coaching job in L.A. after an incredibly successful run of four NBA titles in nine years.  The former Kentucky basketball star said the last decade was the greatest experience of his life.  Riley would coach the from 1991-1995, then take over as President of the and win an NBA title in 2006.

On March 21, 1930, a Freeport, Ill., high school coach named Adolph Rupp is named head basketball coach at the University of Kentucky.
