Derek Willis and Dominique Hawkins aim to remind Kentucky teammates, fans they belong

Derek Willis and Dominique Hawkins believe they more than belong in the recruiting class considered arguably the best in the history of college basketball.

The University of Kentucky’s two non-McDonald’s All-Americans believe they more than belong in the eight-man recruiting class that’s considered arguably the best in the history of college basketball.  They’re also big fans of one another.

Bullitt East forward Derek Willis and Madison Central guard Dominique Hawkins said on Wednesday before practice for Friday’s Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic that they are confident of their place in coach John Calipari’s stacked class.

“People overlook us, but we’re very good players, too, as we come in with the other six players,” Hawkins said. “But hopefully we’ll get to show our stuff when we get to the University of Kentucky.”
