Meet the Wildcats: Bam Adebayo

Bam Adebayo

Edrice “Bam” Adebayo is an incoming freshman to the University of mens basketball team. But I’m sure you knew that, considering he was ranked as the 6th best player in ’s annual top 100 recruits.

Something you may not know is how he got his nickname “Bam”. When Edrice was just 1, he was watching the Flintstones with his mother. He became so enthralled by the character Bamm-Bamm he picked the coffee table up in his living room earning the tag honestly.  And its a name that fits extremely well for the 6’9”, 240 pound power forward, because he is quite well known for getting down low and almost tearing rims right off of the backboard.

In his junior year of high school at Northside in Pinetown, he was one of the most dominant players in the country averaging 32.2 points per game along with an astounding 21 rebounds per game. His senior year was spent at High Point Christian Academy in Highpoint, North Carolina where his numbers took a dip from the previous year with 18.9 points per game and 13 rebounds per game, yet the stat line was no less impressive though as he earned North Carolina’s Mr. Basketball award for 2016.

He is a big man who isn’t afraid to do the dirty work under the rim and he loves slamming huge dunks. Expect to see him doing his thing night in and night out and looking good doing it in wildcat blue.
