The University of Kentucky‘s regular-season opener against Stephen F. Austin featured 53 fouls, so finding a rhythm was difficult.
Finding a speed, however, was easy. UK freshman point guard De’Aaron Fox, just as he has done all preseason in practice and in two exhibitions, played the game in fast-forward. Everyone else was at regular, human speed.
In his first college game, Fox handed out more assists than any UK player in his Wildcat debut, at least since assists were kept as an official stat in 1971. He finished the game with 12 assists to go with 12 points as No. 2-ranked Kentucky wore down SFA 98-64 in Rupp Arena.
