Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey have been named the NBA Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2023-24 season.
Maxey helped lead the 76ers to a 2-1 record in the opening week of the season with averages of 30.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists. His week was highlighted by his 34-point performance, including shooting 7-for-9 from 3-point range, in Philadelphia’s 114-107 win over Toronto. Maxey is averaging 56% (14-for-25) from 3-point range in three games this season.
He is one of six NBA players this season to make at least seven threes in a game. The Player of the Week honor is the first weekly nod of Maxey’s career.
