Bob Windsor was born Robert Edward Windsor on December 19, 1942, in Washington, D.C., to Elsie P. and Raymond C. Windsor.  He is a former American football tight end who played nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He is best known for his tenure with the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots.

In 1961, Windsor was the starting center on the undefeated Maryland state basketball champions.

Windsor attended the University of Kentucky, where he was a dual-sport athlete, excelling in both football and basketball. On the football field, he played as a wide receiver and running back, contributing significantly to the Wildcats’ offense. In the 1965 season, he appeared in 10 games, recording 5 rushes for 33 yards and 30 receptions for 426 yards and 2 touchdowns. The following year, he played in 10 games, rushing 101 times for 356 yards and 2 touchdowns, and catching 11 passes for 132 yards and 1 touchdown.

In basketball, Windsor played as a forward for the Kentucky Wildcats during the 1965-1966 season. He appeared in 6 games, averaging 0.8 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game.

After finishing his professional career with the New England Patriots, Windsor ran a highly successful sporting goods business and also served as a coach and teacher at several Montgomery County schools.

 

Walter Cornett, of Glendale, Kentucky, is the owner and operator of Walter’s Wildcat World. He founded WildcatWorld.com in 1998 making it one of the oldest Kentucky basketball fan sites in operation today.
