Kareem Watkins  was born February 3, 2001, in Camden, New Jersey to Syreeta Brittingham.  His stepfather is Dajuan Wagner, a former  star who played for John Calipari.  Watkins has two siblings, Dayonni and Dajuan Jr.

Watkins appeared in all 26 games for Kingsway Regional during his senior season and averaged 8.7 points per game.  He notched 11 double-figure scoring efforts and knocked down multiple 3-pointers in 12 games.  Watkins scored a season-high 19 points on six made 3s with four assists against Woodstown.  He also posted 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists at Clearview and recorded 15 points, six boards, and five dimes vs. Cumberland. He dished out four or more assists in 14 games and produced three or more steals in 10 games.  Watkins helped advance Kingsway to the 2020 NJSIAA Group 4 Championship field of 64.

Watkins joined the team as a walk-on his freshman year.  He made one appearance, logging two minutes in Kentucky’s dominating regular-season finale victory over South Carolina.

As a sophomore, Watkins appeared in nine games and had three rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals.  He was named to the Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll.
