25 Morakinyo Williams

Morakinyo Williams was born on August 29, 1988, in Solihull, England, before moving to the United States and spending his high school career at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Under head coach Mark Vincent, the imposing 6-foot-11 center developed into a formidable presence in the paint, averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior. Rated as a top-100 senior recruit by evaluator Bob Gibbons, Williams earned third-team Washington Catholic Athletic Conference honors and secured a spot in Kentucky’s 2007 recruiting class after committing to the program.

Joining the Wildcats for the 2007–08 season, Williams provided size and depth in the frontcourt during his freshman campaign under head coach Billy Gillispie. Although his time in Lexington was brief, he served as a physical interior option in practice and worked to adapt to the speed and demands of SEC basketball. Following his freshman year, Williams opted to continue his collegiate journey elsewhere, ultimately transferring to Duquesne and later finishing his college eligibility at The Citadel.

Williams’ most memorable outing in a Kentucky uniform came right at the start of his career in the 2007–08 season opener against Central Arkansas. Playing a season-high 19 minutes, he made the most of his opportunity by posting career highs across the board with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist to help lead the Wildcats to a 67–40 victory. He finished his lone season in Lexington with 5 games played, 4 total points, and 5 rebounds in 30 total minutes of action. Following his collegiate career, Williams embarked on a successful professional journey overseas, showcasing his physical play across international leagues in Europe, South America, and Asia.
