Travis Perry was born April 20 in Lexington, Kentucky, and grew up in Eddyville, where he became one of the most celebrated high school players in state history at Lyon County. Playing for his father, Ryan Perry, he scored a Kentucky-record 5,381 career points and became the first player in the state to surpass 5,000. Perry capped his career by leading Lyon County to the 2024 state championship at Rupp Arena, earning Sweet 16 Most Valuable Player honors and being named Kentucky Mr. Basketball and Gatorade State Player of the Year for the second time.
A four-star prospect, Perry originally signed with John Calipari but remained committed to Kentucky after Mark Pope became head coach. The 6-foot-1 guard appeared in 31 games and made four starts during the 2024–25 season, providing backcourt depth and earning a place on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. His connection to the Commonwealth and reputation as its all-time prep scoring leader made him a popular member of Pope’s first Kentucky team.
Perry delivered eight points and two three-pointers in Kentucky’s home victory over fifth-ranked Tennessee, then recorded season highs of 12 points and four steals at Alabama. He added 11 points in 30 minutes against the Crimson Tide in the SEC Tournament. After his freshman season, Perry transferred to Ole Miss, where he became the Rebels’ leading three-point shooter in 2025–26, before joining Dayton for the 2026–27 season.
