Kentucky 2012 target Archie Goodwin receives offer from Kentucky

After a 32-point performance tonight with John Calipari in attendance, junior Archie Goodwin (Sylvania Hills, Ark.) received a scholarship offer from Kentucky. Goodwin has been reported to love the ‘Cats and this should be one of his personal favorite offers. “I got the offer from Kentucky,” he told me via text. Kentucky is one of the top teams for Goodwin, along with Memphis, Missouri, and home-state Arkansas.

Sylvan Hills 6-foot-3 guard Archie Goodwin, seen here talking to Kentucky’s Rod Strickland, is considered one of the nation’s top prospects for the Class of 2012 and has the scholarship offers to show for it. Rivals.com rates Goodwin a 5-star recruit, and Arkansas Wings’ Ron Crawford says Goodwin will be the state’s most highly recruited player since Little Rock Central product and NBA All-Star Joe Johnson. Goodwin said he appreciates the accolades coming his way but admits he can’t spend too much time thinking about it.

Kentucky signee Anthony Davis is 6-10 and still growing

A year ago, Anthony Davis looked in the mirror and saw a 6-foot-3 guard in search of a college scholarship. At the time, Davis owned a common name and a common basketball frame. He was watching guards to pick up tricks to use on the floor and hoped he could play in college. It would be months until Cleveland State would come see him play and make his first scholarship offer.

Three Kentucky signees first-team All-Americans

Three of the four players signed last week by University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari have been named to the first-team preseason All-American team by High Potential Scouting Service. Chicago forward Anthony Davis, Indianapolis guard Marquis Teague (photo) and New Jersey forward Michael Gilchrist were joined on the five-man, first-team by Duke signee Austin Rivers and Syracuse signee Rakeem Christmas.

Kentucky basketball adds four for 2011

UK head coach John Calipari is well on his way to a third-straight top-ranked recruiting class after announcing the signings of Anthony Davis, Michael Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and Kyle Wiltjer to National Letters of Intent. “These are not just terrific basketball players, but they’re terrific students and terrific people as well,” Calipari said. “Most importantly, they all have an unbelievable attitude about winning; they all wanted to play together knowing they’re going to have to sacrifice a little bit of their game for their teammates. With this group, it adds to what we already have within our program. These are four of the best, which is what we want to recruit here.”
