Larry Stamper wishes he could still play (WinchesterSun.com)

Larry Stamper is a retired school teacher living in Winchester with his wife and likes to spend his time either hunting, fishing or playing golf.   However, for long-time University of Kentucky basketball fans, Stamper will always be remembered as one of the toughest, most physical players to play for the Wildcats during his three-year career from 1970-72.   Read article.

Walter Cornett, of Glendale, Kentucky, is the owner and operator of Walter’s Wildcat World. He founded WildcatWorld.com in 1998 making it one of the oldest Kentucky basketball fan sites in operation today.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On February 14, 1938, Joe Hagan’s 48-foot shot with 12 seconds left lifts the Wildcats over Marquette, 35-33. Then-Kentucky governor A.B. “Happy” Chandler sprinted onto the playing court at the final buzzer and drove a nail into the floor to mark the spot from which “Hagan’s heave” was launched.

 

On February 14, 2009, Jodie Meeks scored 45 points at Arkansas.
