Former Kentucky head coach Joe B. Hall has been honored by the town of Shepherdsville.  Hall began his longtime career during the 1956-57 school yaer at Shepherdsville High School in Bullitt County.  He went on to a be coach of the Kentucky Wildcats from 1972 to 1985.  This afternoon, Shepherdsville officially renamed Vine Street to Joe B. Hall Avenue.  Coach Hall was on hand for the renaming.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On February 18, 1903, State College (Kentucky) records its first win, an 11-10 decision over Lexington YMCA. The Wildcats finished that first season with a 1-2 record.

 

On February 18, 1909, with a 28-23 win over Cincinnati, Kentucky clinched its first winning season in school history. Following a “Senior Day” loss to Central University, the Wildcats ended the year with a 5-4 record.

 

On February 18, 1950, Bill Spivey scored 40 points against Georgia Tech.
