Happy Chandler

Happy Chandler

From The Season Never Ends Calendar 2010:  “Albert B. Happy Chandler was born this day in Corydon, KY.  Governor.  Senator.  Commissioner of Baseball.  Albert B. Happy Chandler was all of those things, but nothing fit the man quite like the description “Kentucky fan.”  Look at any old photo from the national championship teams of the 1940’s and 50s and you’ll likely find Chandler in one of them, congratulating Adolph Rupp on another big victory.  He remained a beloved figure in Kentucky basketball circles into his nineties.  In his late 80’s he sang “My Old Kentucky Home,” on Senior Day, and his passion for the school never ebbed.”

Walter Cornett, of Glendale, Kentucky, is the owner and operator of Walter’s Wildcat World. He founded WildcatWorld.com in 1998 making it one of the oldest Kentucky basketball fan sites in operation today.
