For former Kentucky Wildcats guard Adrian Smith, membership on the 1960 U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team has been a gift that keeps giving.  Start with the memories. Marching into Rome’s Stadio Olimpico behind the American flag during the opening ceremonies. “The goose bumps came up all over you,” said Smith, a starting guard on Adolph Rupp’s 1958 NCAA championship team.

On February 2, 1963, Cotton Nash joined the 1,000-point club.  He did it in a school record 45 games.

 

On February 2, 1966, Louie Dampier scored 42 points at Vanderbilt.

 

On February 2, 1966, No. 2 Kentucky defeated No. 4 Vanderbilt, 105-90.  Louie Dampier poured in 42 points as Rupp’s Runts won a crucial SEC road game over Clyde Lee (23 points, 14 rebounds) and the host Commodores before 9,220 in Memorial Gym.
