On This Day in UK Basketball History

On December 28, 1959, No. 13 Kentucky defeated No. 3 Ohio State 96-93.  Kentucky’s Billy Ray Lickert (29 points) and Bennie Coffman (26) outdueled Ohio State stars Jerry Lucas (34) and John Havlicek (16) before 13,000 in Memorial Coliseum.  Ohio State went on to win the 1960 NCAA title.
