Former Cat Darnell Dodson heads to Southern Miss

Darnell Dodson

Former Kentucky guard Darnell Dodson is transferring to Southern Miss, coach Larry Eustachy said in a statement Friday.  Dodson is enrolled in the school and is expected to become eligible after sitting out the spring and fall semesters. He will be allowed to practice with the team.  The 6-foot-7 Dodson averaged 6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.5 minutes last season as a sophomore at Kentucky, making a team-high 50 3-pointers. Wildcats coach John Calipari announced in August that he would not play for the team this season.  The Greenbelt, Md., native spent his freshman season at Miami-Dade Community College.
