FGCU athletic director Ken Kavanagh has said he will not publicly speak about candidates while conducting a search, said today he has narrowed his list of candidates to under 10 after last week saying he had 15-20 candidates and did not need any more. Prominent assistant coaches Casey Alexander of Belmont, Dan Hipsher of Alabama and Richard Pitino of Florida, the son of Louisville coach Rick Pitino, have emerged as candidates for the FGCU men’s basketball job, based on phone and email records of Kavanagh acquired through a public records request.

On December 1, 1950, UK plays its first game in the new, $3.9 million, 11,500-seat Memorial Coliseum. Skeptics label the building a “white elephant.”  The Wildcats made the first game played in Memorial Coliseum a memorable one as they routed the West Texas State Buffaloes.
