Former Cat, Dayton hoops legend Dwight Anderson finally living well again

John Clay is on fire today.  Another hat tip to him.  From the Dayton Daily News:  “The room is quite small — just enough space for a single bed, a dresser and some shelves — and yet to Dwight Anderson it feels almost like a mansion.  There were a few pairs of tennis shoes tossed in the corner, some canned goods stacked on a shelf, a TV next to the bed, a couple of space heaters on the floor, and propped up on the dresser was a small plaque that had the figure of a basketball player bursting off the front of it and an inscription that read…”

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On February 14, 1938, Joe Hagan’s 48-foot shot with 12 seconds left lifts the Wildcats over Marquette, 35-33. Then-Kentucky governor A.B. “Happy” Chandler sprinted onto the playing court at the final buzzer and drove a nail into the floor to mark the spot from which “Hagan’s heave” was launched.

 

On February 14, 2009, Jodie Meeks scored 45 points at Arkansas.
