Michael Gilchrist changes name to honor family members

Michael Gilchrist is now Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, according to his Twitter. It’s a name change to honor his father, Michael Gilchrist Sr., and his uncle, Darrin Kidd. Both family members are deceased.  Gilchrist honored the memory of his father, Michael Gilchrist, Sr., who died in 1996, by the date of his college choice. Gilchrist announced his decision to attend UK on April 14, the day his father would have turned 44 years old.

On February 18, 1903, State College (Kentucky) records its first win, an 11-10 decision over Lexington YMCA. The Wildcats finished that first season with a 1-2 record.

 

On February 18, 1909, with a 28-23 win over Cincinnati, Kentucky clinched its first winning season in school history. Following a “Senior Day” loss to Central University, the Wildcats ended the year with a 5-4 record.

 

On February 18, 1950, Bill Spivey scored 40 points against Georgia Tech.
