Archie Goodwin commits to Kentucky

Archie Goodwin, a five-star shooting guard in the Class of 2012, committed to UK Tuesday night, according to ESPN’s Dave Telep and Goodwin’s Twitter.  Telep, ESPN’s recruiting analyst, first reported the news on Twitter. Minutes later, Goodwin confirmed the news himself on his Twitter page.  Goodwin, a Little Rock, Ark., native, had a final three of UK, Memphis and Arkansas. He is rated the No. 12 on Rivals and No. 13 on ESPN.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On February 18, 1903, State College (Kentucky) records its first win, an 11-10 decision over Lexington YMCA. The Wildcats finished that first season with a 1-2 record.

 

On February 18, 1909, with a 28-23 win over Cincinnati, Kentucky clinched its first winning season in school history. Following a “Senior Day” loss to Central University, the Wildcats ended the year with a 5-4 record.

 

On February 18, 1950, Bill Spivey scored 40 points against Georgia Tech.
