Nolan Hickman decommits from Kentucky

Fourth-ranked point guard Nolan Hickman has decommitted from the University of Kentucky

Some surprising Friday afternoon news with major implications on next year’s basketball roster, Nolan Hickman has decommitted from the University of Kentucky.

The Twitter account @recruitsnews was the first to break the news.

Moments later, Hickman gave the following statement via Instagram.

“I got nothing but All love for BBN.. Coach Cal.. and the entire kentucky coaching staff,” he says. “Thank you.”

Hickman is the fourth-ranked point guard in the Class of 2021, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He was recruited to Kentucky by Tony Barbee, whose recent departure may have played a role in the decommitment; in addition to Calipari seeking other point guard options in the transfer portal. Now Calipari needs two point guards from the point guard market, and Hickman’s decommitment may mean he is aware of Calipari’s plans for the position.
