Kentucky Finalizes 2026-27 Schedule, Adds UCF Exhibition

Kentucky officially completed its 2026-27 men’s basketball schedule Friday by adding UCF as a third preseason exhibition on Oct. 28 at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats will also host Little Rock on Oct. 16 and on Oct. 23 before opening the regular season Nov. 3 against Manhattan. The full slate includes 15 games against teams that reached last season’s NCAA Tournament and 12 opponents currently ranked in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25.

Judge Blocks SEC, NCAA From Enforcing New Eligibility Restrictions

A Texas judge issued a 14-day temporary restraining order Friday preventing the NCAA, SEC and commissioner Greg Sankey from enforcing newly adopted restrictions against 41 athletes seeking another season of college eligibility. The ruling involves athletes who had entered professional drafts or signed professional contracts and comes amid a growing wave of lawsuits challenging NCAA eligibility limits. A further hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11.

Amari Williams Helps Great Britain Roll in Senior National-Team Debut

Former Kentucky center Amari Williams made his senior Great Britain debut Thursday and helped the national team defeat Switzerland 110-75 in FIBA EuroBasket 2029 pre-qualifying play. Williams started at center and contributed eight points, seven rebounds and two assists in just under 19 minutes while shooting 4-for-7 from the field. Great Britain returns to action Sunday against Slovakia in Newcastle.

Kentucky Building Early Relationship With 2028 Guard Liam Mitakaro

Kentucky has begun laying groundwork with 2028 combo guard Liam Mitakaro, one of nine prospects in that class already holding a scholarship offer from the Wildcats. The 6-foot-4 Canadian prospect plays at Bella Vista Prep in and helped Canada internationally this summer after drawing Mark Pope’s attention on the recruiting circuit. Mitakaro has described Kentucky as one of the offers that carried particular significance for him.

Why it matters: Kentucky’s recruiting operation is already stretching beyond the heavily targeted 2027 class, giving Pope and his staff an early foothold with one of the more intriguing guards in 2028.

Bob Guyette Celebrates His 73rd Birthday

Former Kentucky center turns 73 today. Born Aug. 29, 1953, in , , Guyette played three seasons for Joe B. Hall from 1972-75 and was part of the Kentucky team that reached the 1975 NCAA championship game.
