Augustus Weisenberger was born on July 19, 1892, in Woodford County, Kentucky, to Philip J. Weisenberger and Margaret Mahoney Weisenberger. He grew up in Midway and enrolled at the University of Kentucky, where he studied mechanical engineering. A 5-foot-9 guard on Kentucky’s basketball team, Weisenberger was active in campus life as a member of the Student Athletic Association, the Mandolin Club, class basketball and football teams, and the student-run K.S.U. Gas Company. He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and was inducted into Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society.

After graduating, Weisenberger returned to Midway, where he operated the Weisenberger Sanitary Flour Mill for four decades. He became a respected business and civic leader, serving on the board of directors of the United Bank and Trust Company of Midway, leading the Kentucky Millers Association, helping found the Midway Lions Club, and participating in numerous community, church, and veterans organizations. He remained associated with the family mill until his death on January 15, 1955, leaving a lasting legacy in both Kentucky industry and his hometown.
