Former Kentucky coach Eddie Sutton part of 2011 college basketball hall of fame class
Bob Knight, who coached Indiana to three national titles and had 902 wins in 41 seasons, and Virginia great Ralph Sampson are among the eight members of the Class of 2011 of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Also in the class announced Monday are coach Eddie Sutton, players James Worthy, Cazzie Russell and Chris Mullin and contributors Joe Vancisin and Eddie Einhorn. Induction will take place at the Hall of Fame on Nov. 20 as part of a three-day celebration that includes the CBE Classic at Sprint Center featuring Missouri, California, Georgia and Notre Dame.
Terrence Jones makes Dick Vitale’s All-Solid Gold team
Today Dick Vitale unveiled his crème de la crème, the best of the best in college basketball for the 2010-11 season. He acknowledges it was not easy picking five All-Solid Gold teams. There were definitely some good players who fell just short and there will be some debates. Terrence Jones made the 4th team. No other Kentucky players was mentioned.

Throughout November and December, even as their young team was making impressive strides in a difficult nonconference schedule, Kentucky fans had a singular refrain: “Free Enes.” After Friday’s resounding win at Louisville, perhaps Big Blue Nation should adopt a new slogan for their arena signs, T-shirts and message board signatures: “Enes who?” As Kentucky waited for word in the inexorable NCAA eligibility case of highly rated Turkish prospect Enes Kanter, Josh Harrellson — Kentucky’s occasionally maligned would-be backup center — proved that maybe the Wildcats don’t need Enes after all.

Doron Lamb named Dick Vitale’s Diaper Dandy of the Week
Lamb, a 6-4 guard from Queens, N.Y., scored 32 points in leading the Wildcats to a win over Winthrop. He went 11-of-12 from the field, making 7-of-8 3-pointers to break Kentucky’s freshman record of 31 points set by Jamal Mashburn on Feb. 3, 1991, against Georgia. It marks the third time that Lamb has scored at least 20 points in a game this year. He set career highs for points, field goals and 3-pointers. Lamb’s seven 3-pointers are tied for the most by a Southeastern Conference player this season.

Kentucky signee Anthony Davis is 6-10 and still growing
A year ago, Anthony Davis looked in the mirror and saw a 6-foot-3 guard in search of a college scholarship. At the time, Davis owned a common name and a common basketball frame. He was watching guards to pick up tricks to use on the floor and hoped he could play in college. It would be months until Cleveland State would come see him play and make his first scholarship offer.
