Kentucky basketball adds four for 2011

UK head coach John Calipari is well on his way to a third-straight top-ranked recruiting class after announcing the signings of Anthony Davis, Michael Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and Kyle Wiltjer to National Letters of Intent. “These are not just terrific basketball players, but they’re terrific students and terrific people as well,” Calipari said. “Most importantly, they all have an unbelievable attitude about winning; they all wanted to play together knowing they’re going to have to sacrifice a little bit of their game for their teammates. With this group, it adds to what we already have within our program. These are four of the best, which is what we want to recruit here.”

Kentucky cruises past Pikeville, 97-66

Freshman point guard Brandon Knight scored 22 points and Darius Miller added 21 points and nine rebounds as No. 11 Kentucky cruised past Pikeville 97-66 in an exhibition game on Monday night. Knight, the latest in a long line of high-profile point guards recruited by coach John Calipari, added seven rebounds and had little trouble getting to the lane while operating Kentucky’s dribble-drive offense.

Brandon Knight scores 37 in Kentucky Blue-White scrimmage

Brandon Knight scored 37 points Tuesday night to lead the Blue team past the White squad 101-74 in Kentucky’s intrasquad scrimmage. Knight is taking over at point guard this year after John Wall was selected by the Washington Wizards with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft following one season in Lexington. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., native was part of another strong recruiting class for coach John Calipari.

Wayne Turner joins men’s basketball staff

Kentucky head coach John Calipari is pleased to announce the addition of former UK guard Wayne Turner to the 2010-11 men’s basketball staff.  Turner, who is currently finishing his undergraduate degree at UK, will assist pre-, during and post-practice and primarily focus on working with UK’s guards.
