John Wall named SEC Freshman of the Week for 3rd consecutive week

‘s John Wall was named Freshman of the Week after he averaged 14.0 points, 10.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds in leading the Wildcats to wins over UNC Asheville and 10th-ranked North Carolina. He recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 assists to go with six steals against UNC Asheville.  Read article.

On January 13, 2009, Jodie Meeks scored 54 points at Tennessee in a 90-72 victory for the most points in a single game by a Kentucky player. Meeks played 39 minutes and went 15-of-22 from the field, including 10-of-15 from behind the arc. He also didn't miss from the free-throw line, where he went 14-of-14.  He also hauled in eight rebounds and kicked out four assists.  The 54 points by Meeks was also the most points scored in an SEC game since Chris Jackson from LSU tallied 55 against Ole Miss in 1989.
