Cousins’ behavior is not a good representation of Kentucky basketball

Twice in high profile games, DeMarcus Cousins has thrown an elbow at an opposing player. And twice, he was given a reprieve by the officials, and not tossed out of the game. Against Louisville and in Saturday’s Vanderbilt game, the big man has let his temper get the better of him and clocked someone with an elbow.  Maybe it’s time he did get thrown out of a game. It might teach him a lesson.  Right now, despite all his talent, he’s coming across as a thug. Part of that might be the freshman in him. Part of that might be his personality.

On June 24, 2010, Kentucky had five players drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft. John Wall became the first Wildcat ever named the overall No. 1 pick when he was selected by the Washington Wizards.  DeMarcus Cousins was selected fifth by the Sacramento Kings, Patrick Patterson went 14th to the Houston Rockets, Eric Bledsoe went 18th to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Daniel Orton was picked 29th by the Orlando Magic.
