A Lexington coroner has confirmed that a former University of Kentucky basketball player has killed himself.  Melvin Turpin, 49, played four seasons at UK.  He was taken sixth overall in the 1984 NBA draft by the Washington Bullets — the same draft with Michael Jordan, among others.  Turpin played five seasons in the pros, but never matched his college success.  As recently as a year ago, Turpin had been working as a security guard in Versailles, Ky.
