On Thursday five-star forward Wenyen Gabriel announced his commitment to Kentucky through an ESPN video and later confirmed his pledge to Cats Illustrated.

Gabriel becomes the Cats’ second commitment in the class of 2016, joining Sacha Killeya-Jones.

The 6-foot-9, 200-pound Wilbraham, Mass., native picked the Cats over Duke, Providence, Connecticut and Maryland.

“I learned a lot about the schools but most importantly I learned about myself and where I wanted to go to school,” Gabriel told ESPN. “I like those schools because they all had their own plans for me and they truly wanted what was best for me. That’s what I took outta there.

Going down it was really hard for me to figure out which school was a better school but I realized I was going about it the wrong way. I needed to find out what school was best for me. I’m so happy to announce I’ll be a Kentucky Wildcat coming up.”
