Kentucky Loses at Ole Miss

Devontae Shuler scored 17 points, KJ Buffen had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Mississippi beat Kentucky 70-62 on Tuesday night.

Ole Miss (14-10, 9-8 Southeastern Conference) outrebounded UK by 14 on Tuesday night to defeat the Wildcats (8-15, 7-9 SEC) 70-62 at the Pavilion at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi.
 
“How about we have 16 assists and seven turnovers? What’s that usually mean for us?” Calipari said. “Yeah, (a win). Not when you get outrebounded.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On April 1, 1996, behind an NCAA title game record-tying seven three-pointers from Tony Delk, UK won its sixth national title. After two John Wallace free throws cut the UK lead to two, 64-62, the Wildcats responded with a Walter McCarty tip-in and a Derek Anderson three-pointer and Syracuse never threatened again.  Kentucky wins, 76-67.

 

On April 1, 2009, John Calipari was named Kentucky’s new head basketball coach.  His deal worth $31.65 million made him the highest-paid coach in college basketball.
