Mark Mitchell Backs Out of Kentucky Commitment, Returns to Missouri

Kentucky’s late-summer roster addition is no more. has backed out of his commitment to Kentucky and re-enrolled at , where he will continue pursuing a disputed fifth season of eligibility. Mitchell’s agent confirmed that Kentucky is no longer an option after a Jefferson County judge declined Monday to give him relief from the SEC’s intraconference-transfer restrictions.

Why it matters: Kentucky loses a proven All-SEC forward who had been expected to play a major role in ‘s frontcourt. The Wildcats also avoid the continuing fight over whether the SEC would permit Mitchell’s Missouri-to-Kentucky transfer outside the normal conference transfer window.

Five-Star Guard Nasir Anderson Schedules Kentucky Official Visit

Five-star 2027 point guard Nasir Anderson has scheduled an official visit to Kentucky for Oct. 5, shortly after weekend. The 6-foot-3 Prolific Prep standout has also scheduled visits to , Virginia, Syracuse, USC, , and North Carolina as one of the nation’s most heavily pursued guards begins narrowing his recruitment.

Ryan Hampton Opens Senior Campaign With 40-Point Performance

Kentucky commitment Ryan Hampton wasted little time putting on a show in his return to Rockwall-Heath High School, scoring 40 points in his first preseason game against Eastern Hills. Hampton returned to the Texas school where his high-school career began after previous stops at Dynamic Prep and DME Academy and elected to remain in the 2027 class rather than reclassify to Kentucky this fall.

Nick Richards Returns Home to Jamaica for Youth Basketball Clinic

Former Kentucky center Nick Richards returned to Jamaica College over the weekend to conduct a basketball clinic for nearly 100 young athletes. The new Heat center worked with players on fundamentals while emphasizing academics, discipline and the work required to reach the college and professional levels. Jamaica College, Richards’ alma mater, also honored him during the event.

Karl Zerfoss’ Birthday Recalls Kentucky’s Pre-Rupp Beginnings

Former Wildcat Karl Zerfoss was born Aug. 31, 1893, and became a four-year Kentucky basketball letterman from 1912-13 through 1915-16. Zerfoss eventually captained the 1915-16 Wildcats, making him an important figure from the program’s formative years more than a decade before arrived in Lexington.
