Former Kentucky forward Bryce Hopkins celebrates his birthday today as he prepares for his rookie professional season with the Denver Nuggets. Denver selected Hopkins with the No. 49 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, and he subsequently signed a two-way contract that will allow him to split time between the Nuggets and the G League.
Darius Miller’s Kentucky Commitment Came 19 Years Ago Today
On Sept. 7, 2007, Darius Miller committed to Kentucky out of Mason County High School. The Maysville native went on to become Kentucky Mr. Basketball, play four seasons for the Wildcats and finish his college career as a senior leader on Kentucky’s 2012 NCAA championship team.
Remembering Harris Walker on His 109th Birthday
Former Kentucky guard Harris Walker was born Sept. 7, 1917, in Lewis County, Kentucky. Walker played for Adolph Rupp‘s Wildcats during the 1937-38 season before embarking on a distinguished U.S. Army career in which he rose to lieutenant colonel and received numerous decorations for bravery during World War II, including two Croix de Guerre awards from France.
