Kentucky Reportedly Set to Hire Alfred Aboya as Assistant Coach
Mark Pope is reportedly adding former UCLA standout Alfred Aboya to his Kentucky coaching staff, according to original reporting Saturday by Kentucky Sports Radio’s Jack Pilgrim. Aboya most recently coached at NBA Academy Africa in Senegal and previously worked with the Iowa Wolves of the NBA G League and Cameroon’s national team. The reported hire would fill Kentucky’s remaining assistant coaching vacancy, although an official university announcement has not yet been confirmed.
Seven-Foot-Five Cherif Millogo Visits Kentucky
Kentucky is hosting 2027 center Cherif Millogo on an official visit this weekend, bringing another highly regarded international prospect to Lexington. The 7-foot-5 big man has connections to Alfred Aboya’s international basketball network, adding intrigue to reports of Aboya joining Pope’s staff. Millogo’s visit continues Kentucky’s aggressive pursuit of frontcourt talent for its 2027 recruiting class.
Kentucky Prepares for Three-Game Exhibition Schedule
Kentucky’s finalized preseason schedule features Little Rock on Oct. 16, Texas Tech on Oct. 23 and UCF on Oct. 28, with all three games scheduled for Rupp Arena. The Texas Tech exhibition will be televised on SEC Network+, while the UCF matchup will air on SEC Network. The Wildcats then open the regular season against Manhattan on Nov. 3.
Kentucky’s National Television Schedule Takes Shape
Kentucky’s completed 2026-27 schedule includes high-profile national broadcasts against Kansas, Indiana, Louisville and North Carolina. The Wildcats face Kansas on ESPN on Nov. 10, Indiana on CBS on Nov. 20, Louisville on ABC on Dec. 12 and North Carolina on CBS on Dec. 19. The SEC schedule begins Jan. 2 with a road game against Oklahoma.

Kentucky forward Milan Momcilovic wants to become more than a three-point specialist during his first season in Lexington. In an interview published Thursday by UK Athletics, the former Iowa State standout discussed his confidence in Mark Pope’s offensive system and his determination to create more scoring opportunities around the basket. Momcilovic led the nation last season with 136 made three-pointers while shooting 48.7 percent from beyond the arc, becoming the first player to lead Division I in both categories during the same season.
