NCAA Proposes Summer Competition Against Other College Teams

The NCAA’s Division I basketball oversight committees have introduced legislation that would permit college teams to compete against other four-year institutions during the summer. The proposal would allow up to three competition dates during the eight-week summer development period, with schools permitted to arrange exhibitions, scrimmages, joint practices or three-on-three and five-on-five contests. The men’s committee also proposed increasing allowable summer basketball activities from eight to 10 hours per week.
