Donald Williams was born on July 31, 1988 to Donald and Gilda Williams. 

Williams averaged 25 points per game at Progressive Christian Academy in Baton Rouge.  Prior to attending Progressive Christian, he attended Southern Lab High School in Baton Rouge.  Williams was two-time Louisiana All-State and four-time all-district

Williams chose Kentucky over Marquette, St. John’s, New Orleans and UAB.  Kevin Galloway, Darius Miller, Josh Harrelson, Deandre Liggins and Matt Pilgrim joined him in the 2008 recruiting class.

On May 26, 2009, UK announced that Williams would be transferring from UK.  He didn’t play a single minute his freshman year.

On December 5, 2009, freshman John Wall bounced back from a bout with dehydration and a queasy encounter with an IV drip to finish with 16 points -- including the clinching free throws with 4.3 seconds left -- seven assists, five rebounds and three steals to lift the Wildcats to a 68-66 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels.  This was the first signature win of Calipari's tenure and proved his rebuilding job was well ahead of schedule.
