Louisville lost an epic recruiting battle to Kentucky when Marquis Teague, the No. 1-ranked point guard in the 2011 class, turned down Louisville and committed to the Wildcats. History might very well repeat itself in the recruitment of Michael Chandler. The center already decommitted from Louisville earlier this spring, and now it looks like Kentucky is the team to beat for his services.

On March 16, 1985, in a win over UNLV, Kenny Walker scored 23 points and provided a key block in the final minutes as the Wildcats advanced to the West Regional final .

 

On March 16, 2002, Tayshaun Prince scored 41 points against Tulsa in the NCAA Tournament.

 

On March 16, 2003, after running the table in regular-season Southeastern Conference play, Kentucky defeats Mississippi State, 64-57, in the finals of the SEC Tournament to secure its 24th league tourney crown and complete a 19-0 season sweep of conference opponents. It marked the first time the feat had been accomplished in 51 seasons.
