Five star prospect surprised at Kentucky offer but calls it a “blessing”

Back in the early spring, Troy, Mich., five-star wing James Young was telling everybody who would listen that he wanted the University of men’s basketballprogram to recruit him.  The Wildcats hadn’t previously shown a lot of interest.  “Kentucky would be No. 1,” Young told The in April. “That’s where I want to go. They would be on top of my list right now.”  The staff saw him several times in April, began making more contact and last month extended an offer to Young, who is a top-10 player in the Class of 2013 rankings by all the major scouting services.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On June 28, 2012, the Wildcats set an NBA Draft record with six players picked in the 2012 NBA Draft. Anthony Davis becomes the second UK player to be picked No. 1 overall and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist goes No. 2 overall, becoming the first teammates in NBA Draft history to go 1-2 in the same draft.
