Five-Star Forward Benjamin Berrouet Schedules Kentucky Visit

Kentucky will host highly regarded 2028 forward Benjamin Berrouet for an official visit Oct. 9-11, his father confirmed. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound Dynamic Prep standout recently led Latvia to its first FIBA U16 EuroBasket championship, earning tournament MVP honors after averaging 23.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.

Why it matters: Berrouet is one of the premier prospects in the 2028 class, and getting him to Lexington this early gives Mark Pope and his staff an opportunity to establish Kentucky as a serious contender.

Kentucky Makes Final 10 for Five-Star Point Guard Nasir Anderson

Five-star 2027 point guard Nasir Anderson has trimmed his recruitment to 10 schools, with Kentucky surviving the cut alongside North Carolina, UConn, Providence, Syracuse, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. The Prolific Prep guard is considered one of the nation’s top point guards and is working toward scheduling official visits.

Why it matters: Kentucky already has five-star wing Ryan Hampton committed for 2027, and Anderson would give Pope another cornerstone piece in what could become a major recruiting class.

Kent Hollenbeck Celebrates His 76th Birthday

Former Kentucky guard Kent Hollenbeck turns 76 today. Born Aug. 24, 1950, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Hollenbeck played for Adolph Rupp from 1969-72 and earned third-team All-SEC recognition from UPI as a junior in 1970-71.

Wildcat World angle: Hollenbeck’s 1970-71 season included an .882 free-throw percentage, the best on that Kentucky team. He was later selected by the Detroit Pistons in the 10th round of the 1972 NBA Draft.

On This Date: Gerry Calvert Changed Course from Louisville to Kentucky

On Aug. 24, 1953, highly recruited Maysville High School guard Gerry Calvert accepted a scholarship from Kentucky after previously committing to Louisville. Calvert, who had reportedly drawn interest from 31 colleges, went on to play three varsity seasons for Adolph Rupp from 1954-57.

Wildcat World angle: More than seven decades later, a late recruiting victory over Louisville makes Calvert’s story an especially colorful chapter from the early days of the rivalry.

On This Date: Anthony Davis Became Nation’s No. 1 Recruit

On Aug. 24, 2010, Anthony Davis rose to No. 1 in Scout.com’s national rankings for the 2011 recruiting class, just 11 days after committing to Kentucky. Davis’ extraordinary rise from lightly recruited Chicago guard to elite 6-foot-10 prospect foreshadowed one of the greatest freshman seasons in Kentucky history.

Wildcat World angle: Less than two years later, Davis had led Kentucky to the 2012 national championship and established himself as one of the defining players in program history.
