Pope Says Zoom Diallo Has Become One of His Best-Ever ‘Connectors’

Kentucky coach Mark Pope singled out Zoom Diallo while discussing the chemistry of his rebuilt roster, calling the Washington transfer one of the best “connectors” he has coached. Pope said Kentucky has made substantial progress during the summer and preseason, with improved length and team connection among the qualities giving him confidence that the Wildcats have “a chance to be an elite-level team.”

Why it matters: Diallo arrived in Lexington expected to help solve Kentucky’s need for backcourt creation, but Pope’s comments suggest his influence is extending beyond the stat sheet. With nine newcomers to blend into a cohesive unit, that leadership could prove especially valuable.
