Kentucky drops another heartbreaker in loss to Florida, 70-68

Chandler Parsons scored 17 points, Alex Tyus made two big defensive plays late and Florida beat No. 10 Kentucky 70-68 Saturday night. The Gators, who have struggled from the free-throw line all season, went 18 of 22 from the stripe and hit some clutch ones late. Erving Walker hit both ends of two one-and-ones in the closing minutes.

Cats continue road struggles in 71-69 loss at Ole Miss

In UK head coach John Calipari’s first two seasons, his Cats have been unbeatable at Rupp Arena. But this season, when UK (16-5, 4-3 Southeastern Conference) has taken its show on the road, the team has looked vulnerable. Cats fans can now add the University of Mississippi Rebels to their list of road losses, after UK fell at the hands of Ole Miss 71-69 on a late three-pointer by the Rebels’ point guard Chris Warren. Trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half, UK battled back and took a late lead 69-68 in the final minute of the game.

Cats drop a heartbreaker at Ole Miss

Chris Warren rattled in a 25-footer over two defenders with 2.9 seconds remaining and Mississippi beat No. 10 Kentucky 71-69 on Tuesday night. Warren, who scored 22 points, hit the high-arcing shot to give the Rebels their first victory over a top 10 team during the five-year tenure of coach Andy Kennedy. Warren finished 9 of 15 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range.

Cats Hold Off Georgia for 66-60 Win

Jarrod Polson looked like he belonged out there

Jarrod Polson played three minutes in UK’s win against South Carolina. They weren’t scrub minutes at the end of the second half. They were first-half minutes. UK was leading by nine points when Polson entered with 9:44 to play. He stayed on the floor for 44 seconds. He checked in again at the 5:45 mark in the first half and played 2 minutes and 11 seconds. His playing time came after head coach John Calipari saw Polson playing harder, and better, than the rest of the reserves in 1-on-1 drills in practice.

Deandre Liggins the ‘main part’ of Cats first SEC road win

As vital as Devan Downey’s offense was in South Carolina’s 68-62 upset over the newly-anointed No. 1 Cats last year, DeAndre Liggins’ shut-down defense was just as important in keying the Cats’ 67-58 victory in UK’s first game in Colonial Life Arena since last year’s upset. The role of defensive stopper isn’t something new to Liggins (nor is it usually particularly popular among players) but his value in such a role can’t be understated on a youthful team that has had a tendency to take plays off during stretches of time.
