Cats down Hogs on Davis’ career night

Anthony Davis - photo by Regina Rickert | WildcatWorld.comFreshman Anthony Davisscored a career-high 27 points and blocked seven shots to set a season school record in No. 2 Kentucky’s 86-63 victory over Arkansas on Tuesday night.  The Wildcats (18-1, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) won their 10th straight overall and extended the nation’s longest home winning streak to 46, including 45 straight at Rupp Arena.  Davis and the Wildcats jumped on the Razorbacks (13-5, 2-2) from the start by taking a 10-2 lead and extending it to as many as 20 before halftime.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On February 18, 1903, State College (Kentucky) records its first win, an 11-10 decision over Lexington YMCA. The Wildcats finished that first season with a 1-2 record.

 

On February 18, 1909, with a 28-23 win over Cincinnati, Kentucky clinched its first winning season in school history. Following a “Senior Day” loss to Central University, the Wildcats ended the year with a 5-4 record.

 

On February 18, 1950, Bill Spivey scored 40 points against Georgia Tech.
