Walter Cornett, of Glendale, Kentucky, is the owner and operator of Walter’s Wildcat World. He founded WildcatWorld.com in 1998 making it one of the oldest Kentucky basketball fan sites in operation today.

On This Day in UK Basketball History

On December 29, 1986, following the Wildcats’ 85-51 win at Louisville on Dec. 27, more than 19,000 fans filled Freedom Hall for a Kentucky practice to usher in the era of school-boy legend Rex Chapman.

On December 29, 2001, No. 6 Kentucky defeated Louisville, 82-62.  A Rupp Arena crowd of 24,330 was calling for vengeance when former UK Coach Rick Pitino returned to Lexington for the first time as head coach of the Cardinals. Tayshaun Prince (18 points) and Keith Bogans (17) led a dismantling of Pitino’s overmatched team.

On December 29, 2009, freshman point guard John Wall set a school record with 16 assists as Kentucky crushed Hartford 104-61.

On December 29, 2016, freshman Malik Monk scored 34 points at Ole Miss.
